Course Description: This 1-day course equips practitioners with the knowledge and hands-on skills needed to manage persistent periodontal probing depths greater than 6mm following non-surgical therapy.
The day includes practical excercises on pigs' heads to simulate clinical scenarios and enhance confidence in advanced periodontal techniques.

Course Objectives: By the end of the course, delegates should:
  1. Be able to consider patient, site and clinician factors which may explain why non-surgical periodontal therapy (NSPT) is not working, and then to consider periodontal surgery.
  2. Understand the phases of wound healing and its role in periodontal surgery.
  3. Be familiarised with types of periodontal bone defects, which enables the clinician to choose the most suitable periodontal surgery technique.
  4. Understand the role of advanced surgical techniques.
